Musicology Annotation << Back Two Facets of a Unique Hearing: Color Perception and Relativity by David Berge Polecha Angelina, Batagova Tatiana This article is devoted to the problem of teaching solfeggio in the modern musical and educational process. The article analyzes foreign musical and pedagogical systems aimed at the development of learners' and students' hearing. The importance of this discipline for the development of musical hearing and musical performance abilities is stated. The article focuses on the analysis of popular textbooks by American author David Burge – "Perfect Pitch Ear Training Super Course" and "The Relative Pitch Ear Training Super Course". The forms and methods of developing absolute and relative hearing in professional musicians (vocalists, instrumentalists, jazz vocalists) and amateurs are considered. The terms and concepts of D. Berge "absolute hearing" and "color hearing", presented in the system of the American author as identical, are comprehended. In connection with the use of the concept of "color hearing" in the course, the problem of synesthesia is touched upon. D. Berge's other, nonsynesthetic understanding of the phenomenon of "color hearing" is emphasized. The innovative potential of D. Berge's training courses, which are an effective system for the development of absolute and relative hearing, is noted. It is emphasized that David Burge's hearing development system is simple and effective.
