Karel Goeyvaerts and Electroacoustic Music: Ideas and Trends |
Titova Anastasiya V.
The article discusses the theoretical views of the Belgian composer Karel Goeyvaerts (1923‒1993) on electroacoustic music. The musician was at the origins of integral serialism and electronic music in Western Europe. The research materials were Goeyvaerts’ letters to Stock-hausen, his essays, reports and manuscripts of lectures published in 2010 in the book «Karel Goeyvaerts. Selbstlose Musik», edited by Mark Delaere. Based on the study of these works, the key issues that worried the composer during the formation and development of electroacoustic composition are identified, the evolution of his theoretical views in this area is traced, and con-clusions are drawn about the continuity of technical and aesthetic installations in the thinking of the musician.
Keywords: music of the twentieth century, Karel Goeyvaerts, Karlheinz Stockhausen, electroacoustic (electronic) music, Composition No. 4 with dead tones, musical material.
