The article is devoted to the modern models of a musical museum. The analysis of terminological formulations revealed the need to correct the conceptual apparatus. The practical aspect of this problem is also significant. What does the musical museum store, study and present? How and where does the museum do it? Unconventional approaches to solving these problems indicate the ceaseless search of auspicious ways of advancement. People’s expectations are related to the acoustic nature of music. In response, the musical museum tries to expand the audience’s sensory experience through auditory and tactile sensations. New technologies modify the traditional exhibition space. Nevertheless, this is not enough to comprehend the internal laws of musical art and to feel like a real participant in the creative process. People need an alteration of the museum paradigm, a rejection of the «static» model in favor of a «dynamic» one. Museums are becoming bolder and bolder at experiments. They cooperate with large creative projects and create new cultural initiatives? The number of brilliant specialists who analyze and develop the musical space is growing. New musical instruments, modern participative techniques, coherence of the museum space stimulate the creative activity of visitors.
