Musicology Annotation << Back Performing traditions of Chopin’s works in the class of Merited Arts Worker of Azerbaijan, Professor Elmira Safarova, and her follower, Professor Mammad Guliyev Jabrayil-zada Sevinj Gashim The article investigates performing traditions of compositions by Frederick Chopin in pedagogical activity of the Merited Arts Worker of Azerbaijan, Professor of Uzeyir Hajibeyli Baku Musical Academy Elmira Safarova, and her follower, Professor Mammad Guliyev. The author considers their characteristic pedagogical style criteria in interpretation of Chopin’s compositions. Elmira Safarova carried out her pedagogical activities in the spirit of continuity of traditions and raised a whole generation of young, talented pianists. The article directly reveals the main tasks that Professor M. Guliyev sets for students in the process of learning the works of the great master Chopin and makes the student explain the importance and complexity of the work in general. It is also important that the performance of Chopin’s works occupy an integral role and form the basis of M. Guliyev’s solo career. It is very important that analysis carried out in the article was based on a recording of live performances by M. Guliyev, which makes it possible to witness the creation of a live interpretation and to determine the basic principles and attitude to the performance of Chopin’s music.
