Generalization of passed: Gliere’s music in «The Mad Day, or the Marriage of Figaro» of Moscow Art theatre (1927) |
Naumov Alexander V.
The article is devoted to one of the most famous regisseur’s works of K.S. Stanislavsky, the play "Mad day, or the marriage of Figaro" by P.K. Beaumarchais Comedy, staged in 1927 in the Moscow Art theater with the music by R.M. Gliere. This statement is repeatedly described in the literature of the second half of the XXth century, but from different, not overlapping points of view. The aim of this study was to summarize the data to provide the most complete picture of the cultural circumstances associated with the genre of theatrical music as such and its development in the twentieth century. The participation of a major composer in the work of the great theater makes it possible to compare the score of «Mad day» with other theatrical works by Gliere, as well as with music for other productions of the Moscow Art theatre. It also covers a wider range of problems arising in connection with the existence of the dramaturgic primary source and the principal variation of its musical accompaniment in different stage versions.
Keywords: Gliere, Stanislavsky, Beaumarchais, Moscow Art theatre, «The Mad Day, or the Marriage of Figaro», theatrical music.
