Principles of Organ Performance in the French Baroque Era: «Stops-Combination's Genre», «Toucher», «Manner» of Execution, «Articulation», «Notes inégales» |

This article is the fourth one in the series of «Music Theory and practice of the French Baroque Organ». It analyzes the specific categories of French Baroque organ performance based on combination of stops («stops-combination’s genre»), a way of touch the keyboard («toucher», «manner» of execution, «articulation»), as well as the unique principle, which is denoted by the term «notes inégales» («unequal notes»). The author traces the evolution of these techniques and their terminology in France during the 17th–18th centuries.
