Musicology Annotation << Back The Coronation of Catherine I: to the Question of Music in Imperial Ceremonies in Petrine Era Natalia Y. Plotnikova The paper is concerned with the Catherine I coronation’s music which included bell-ringing, military and secular orchestral music, church singing. The author gives special attention to the coronation singing manuscript, its structure, the musical style, the relationship between hymns, liturgy and ceremony of coronation, gives new information about Ivan Michailovich Protopopov, the author of coronation hymns.
