Musicology Annotation << Back
French Classicism: From «Classical» to «Сlassicism», or From «Exemplary» to «Obsolete» |
Marina N. Tchebourkina
To continue with our previous publications in Musicology (No. 2, 3) which deal with the etymological analysis of main French 17th and 18th centuries terms and show their principles in French organ music of this period, we propose the cycle of two publications (the first article will be followed by the second one in the next number of this magazine) devoted to «French Classicism» problem.
In the first article, the author concentrates his attention on «French Classicism» sources, analyses the evolution of the term «classical» in France since 17th century and shows the establishement of «Classicism» conception in the middle of the 19th century.
Keywords: classical, French Classicism, Baroque, France, 17th–18th centuries, antique. E-mail: marina.tchebourkina@dbmail.com
