Musicology Annotation << Back The Lost autograph of Nicolo Paganini Natalia V. Dahl This article will present the autograph of a small vocal compositi on, writt en in Hannover, which is nonetheless quit e a sig nificant compositi on in the life of the great Nicolo Paganini, surrounded merely by a lot of hearsay. Its manuscript was consi dered to be lost in the 20th century. An analysis of the composition is presented in the historical connection with the circumstances, from which the composer stemmed when he was composingit, and the goal which Paganini set out for himself at the turn of his 50th birthday. A number of mistakes, made in publications in Russia and in other countries about this composition, historical events and persons, which connected with this composition, have been corrected.
