The Singing Culture of Novgorod Archiereus’ Choir in the 18th Century |

The paper is concerned with the singing manuscripts of St. Sophia Cathedral (Novgorod), the monuments of deliberate partesny style of the end of the 17th — 1st half of the 18th century, which are currently the part of the vast collection of the Department of Manuscripts of the State Historical Museum. The repertoire of Archiereus’ choir included compositions for 8, 12, 16 and 24 voices written by V. Titov, N. Kalachnikov, N. Diletsky and other outstanding composers. The author gives special attention to the problems of dating the manuscripts and to the structure of collections.
