Musicology Annotation << Back Rodion Shchedrin in a Dialogue with Dmitry Shostakovich Sinel’nikova O.V. The article is concerned with Rodion Shchedrin’s artworks of the last twenty years in which the composer appeals to his great predecessors’ traditions. The dialogic character of his compositions is examined in the context of retrospective tendencies of Russian music at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. The special analysis is given to the one of Shchedrin’s last great works – symphonic etude «Dialogues with Shostakovich», which most fully reflects this line of his creative activity.
