Musicology Annotation << Back Ensemble Music Making in Piano Class into English (using the Example of four-hand Pieces by N. Kutyreva) Zalomnova Svetlana The article is devoted to the analysis of a children’s piano cycle by composer and pedagogue N.M. Kutyreva, a graduate of the Kazan State Conservatory. The cycle, comprising eight programmatic miniatures, is based on real-life episodes from the composer’s own life and that of her son, which lends the works emotional accessibility and vivid imagery particularly suited to young performers. A distinctive feature of Kutyreva’s musical language lies in its stylistic synthesis and the use of unconventional pianistic techniques that transform the learning process into creative play, thereby enhancing students’ motivation. Her compositions continue the traditions established by the fi nest examples of children’s piano literature – notably those of R. Schumann and P.I. Tchaikovsky – while enriching them with contemporary expressive means. The suite possesses undeniable pedagogical value and merits inclusion in the repertoire of students in elementary and intermediate grades of children’s music schools and arts schools.
