Musicology Annotation << Back Chinese Musicians are the Founders of the Methodology, Theory and Practice of the New Musical Culture of China Wu Xiaolei The article is devoted to the general characteristics of the educational activities and compositional work of Chinese musicians who were inspired by the ideas of the progressive national "May 4 Movement". Their appearance is closely connected with the new culture that is rapidly developing in the twentieth century. Undoubtedly, there was a feedback: new features in the structure of the musician's personality, in which the qualities developed by history are synthesized, and the latest characteristics, instantly assimilated by musicians in the conditions of Western culture that opened their minds, influenced their creativity. To comprehend the fullness of the appearance of Chinese musicians means to understand Chinese music of the twentieth century more deeply, more precisely, in the unity of its newest and ancient properties.
