Artistic Paradigms of Ghenadie Ciobanu’s Symphonic Creativity: New “Old” Programming (About the Method of Conceptual Programming)
Sambrish Elena

Contemporary conceptual music is very multifaceted and covers different genres, including “new theater” (media opera, media project, media mystery,
etc.), instrumental theater and instrumental music itself. Within the framework of the latter, a method was formed that we designated as conceptual
programming, which complements the known types of programming (pictorial, genre, stylistic, hidden, metaphorical). This method is based on quotes,
monograms, allusions, musical and rhetorical fi gures, genre models and other means that work to reveal a philosophical concept, while a high concentration
of these techniques gives rise to a new quality; informative signs (title, program) and artistic signs functioning in the text form a complex play of meanings.
Conceptual programming is based on the technique of commenting – the comparison of intonational events – “frames”. We interpret the concept of an
intonational event as a category of content; these are semantic syntagms, the role of which is played by intonations, their groups or expanded constructions.
The famous composer of the Republic of Moldova Genady Ciobanu widely uses conceptual programming in symphonic work. Revealing the super-theme
“Man and the Universe”, he builds “semantic fi elds”: “Man and the World”, “Man and Culture”, “Man and Nature”, while similar concepts appear in different
frames (scenarios) and scale perspective. As an example, the Symphony “Sub soare și stele” and “Codul Enescu” for string orchestra are analyzed, where
the fi rst work resembles an expanded fresco with many sections-scenes, the second is a heartfelt dialogue with the “Another Author”, built from brief motives
and leitintonations. The richness of artistic meanings gives rise to a vivid result, which goes back to the cultural method of creativity.
Keywords: conceptual programming, commentary technique, intonation events, symphonic work of Genady Ciobanu.
