Musicology Annotation << Back The Poetics of the Estate Text in the Early Works of S.V. Rachmaninov Yudina Vera I. The article attempted to identify the features of the manifestation of manor motifs in the early work of S.V. Rachmaninov in the context of the modern state of domestic estate studies. On the example of the romance «Do you remember the evening» written in the Tambov estate Ivanovka, some features of Rachmaninov’s «manor text» are analyzed. In particular, parallels are established with manor motifs in the poetry of A.K. Tolstoy, whose poem served as the literary basis of the romance. Meaningful and semantic accents are revealed in the interpretation of the image of the Russian estate, characteristic of the musical reading of the poetic primary source (motives of memory, nostalgia, understatement). A musical and stylistic analysis of the romance «Do you remember the evening», emphasizing the characteristic features of manor poetics in the context of literary parallels, was carried out. The presence of manor motifs in Rachmaninov’s early work as a stable artistic system is confirmed by other works of the composer, in particular, the First Piano Concerto. It is concluded that the manor texts of Rachmaninov’s early works played an important role in the formation of the composer’s artistic world, in which the image of the small homeland – the Tambov estate Ivanovka – is inextricably intertwined with the image of the Motherland – Russia.
