Musicology Annotation << Back Topography of the Russian Estate in the Life and Work of S.V. Rachmaninov Yudina Vera I. The article is devoted to the analysis of «manor topography» in the life and work of S.V. Rachmaninov. The role of the Tambov estate Ivanovka in the artistic fate of the composer is well known. However, the composer’s «manor topos» was not limited to her: a number of other estates of provincial Russia played an important role in his creative biography. The article traces the relationship of manor toponyms with the formation and evolution of Rachmaninoff, the composer during the pre-revolutionary period of creativity. There is a signifi cant role of the Russian estate as a special world, a kind of «place of power», personifying the image of the House, which develops during the years of emigration into the image of the Motherland.
