Musicology Annotation << Back On the Impact of the "Banshee" Metro-Tempo System to the Piano Music of China Zhuang Junjie Chinese musical drama is a unique art form. Preserving the theatrical and cultural traditions of mainland China, this genre fully reflects the national identity. The history of the development of the Chinese musical theater of the last century is marked by the active penetration of Western stylistic intentions, which are refl ected in the dramaturgy of the performance. At the same time, modern composers of China extrapolate similar mutual infl uences to other types of musical art. This article discusses the foundations of the Banshee metro-tempo system inherent in traditional Chinese opera, in relation to the degree of their participation in modern Chinese piano music. The subject of the study was the Banshee metro-tempo system, the object is the manifestation of the elements of the Banshee at the compositional level in the instrumental music of contemporary Chinese composers. The purpose of the study is to analyze the combination of established Western forms with the Banshee structure. The material of the work was samples of professional instrumental music by Chinese composers, including “Xi yang xiao gu” (1975) by Li Yinghai, “Pi Huang” (1996) by Zhang Zhao, "Yushahe" (2019) by Ma Shuhao. The analysis of the correlation of elements of the Chinese compositional system in comparison with the Western European tradition is carried out.
