Musicology Annotation << Back Piano Miniatures by A. Scriabin in Violin Transcriptions (To the 150th Anniversary of the Composer’s Birth) Safonova Elena L. The relevance of the study and its scientific novelty are determined by an attempt to analyze the violin versions of the works of the great master of piano miniature A.N. Scriabin. Their authors are violinists A.Ya. Mogilevsky, D.M. Tsyganov, M.I. Fikhtengolts, J. Szigeti, pianist V.E. Yampolsky, composer and conductor K. Yamada are prominent representatives of performing schools in Russia, Hungary and Japan. A single creative environment united these musicians, connected by various forms of direct communication: teacher and student, colleagues, partners in the ensemble (Mogilevsky was also a friend of Scriabin himself). In performing and pedagogical practice, most of the adaptations have not received worthy application; specific research on the topic has not been carried out. Musical editions and sound recordings of nine transcriptions (four etudes, two nocturnes, a mazurka, a waltz, «Album Leaf») served as material for this article. The hypothesis of the study is to substantiate the possibility of increasing interest in the «violin Scriabin» on the part of professional musicians. The probability of further practical work on creating transcriptions of the composer’s numerous works (waltzes, mazurkas, preludes, etudes, impromptu, etudes) is also undoubted. The purpose of the study is to collect sources, analyze the available information and give a new impetus to the sound of a valuable layer of the repertoire on the stage.
