Musicology Annotation << Back The Work of L.L. Sabaneev on Orchestral Arrangements of N.K. Medtner’s Compositions Koval Darya A. This article based on archival materials deals with the history of the creation of L.L. Sabaneev’s orchestral arrangements of a number of works of N.K. Medtner. It was found out that after the composer’s death, his widow, A.M. Medtner, asked L.L. Sabaneev to make orchestration. It is indicated that autographs, authorized copies and photocopies of autographs of 10 dances from the cycles under the title “Forgotten Motifs” op. 38, 40 of N.K. Medtner, arranged for orchestra by L.L. Sabaneev. Based on the analysis of Leonid Leonidovich's letters to Anna Mikhailovna, some unrenowned aspects of the activity of Sabaneev as an orchestral arranger are clarified as well as the features of his creative process and the stages of work on orchestrations are considered.
