Musicology Annotation << Back Composer’s Heritage of Yuri Chugunov Within the History`S Framework of the Development of the Genre Panorama of Music for Saxophone of the XX–XXI Centuries Belenikin Pavel S. The relevance and scientific novelty of the article are due to the appeal to the work of the outstanding modern Russian saxophonist, composer and teacher Yuri Chugunov, which is insuffi ciently covered in Russian musicology, although it is very popular in educational and concert practice. As the object of the study, music for Yu. Chugunov’s saxophone was chosen, which according to its characteristics corresponds to the most striking genre trends in the development of world saxophone art of the XX–XXI centuries. Composers who turned to the saxophone during this period demonstrate an increased interest in large cyclic forms, ensemble genres and solo concert pieces, in addition, among saxophonists, the demand for pedagogical and competitive repertoire is increasing. After analyzing a number of works by Yu. Chugunov, we can conclude that the composer refers specifically to such relevant and indemand genres as suite, quartet, concert, virtuoso instrumental miniature. In each of his works for saxophone, the composer finds ways to synthesize the achievements of academic and jazz musical culture, stylistically enrich traditional genres, at the same time improving the performing and expressive capabilities of the instrument and expanding its repertoire. The purpose of this article is to identify the individual features of Yu. Chugunov’s creativity and to determine the place of his works in the development of genre trends in the world saxophone art of the XX–XXI centuries.
