Musicology Annotation << Back Vocal Performance Features of «O Patria mia» Performed by the Honored artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Nazarov Babayeva Minakhanim I. The article considers the interpretive features of the work «O Patria mia» composed for the countertenor and symphony orchestra performed by the Honored artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Nazarov. I. Nazarov is one of the brightest representatives of the modern Azerbaijani vocal performance school, as well as the fi rst and only countertenor voice in the Azerbaijani musical culture, an opera singer with a wide range of vocal abilities. The singer’s 5-octave vocal abilities did not escape the attention of the European and Azerbaijani composers, and they wrote works taking into account the peculiarities of his voice. Such works as «O Patria mia» impose additional requirements on the performer. They manifest themselves in the technique of singing a countertenor, in sound extraction and redirection, dynamic nuances, breathing techniques and other factors. The study clarified all the above points.
