Domestic and American Pop Song in the 1920s–1930s: Specificity and Influence on the Musical Culture of the Russian Emigration |

The article examines the key aspects of the formation and development of Russian and American pop songs, as well as the peculiarities of the creative environment of the Russian emigration in the United States (1920–1930s. XX century). The contribution of the representatives of the national pop song to the formation of the musical traditions of the Russian diaspora is revealed. A certain influence of American vocal culture on the performing arts of our compatriots is emphasized. The author notes the fact of the demand for Russian pop music in American society. It is indicated that the stage of the Russian diaspora has had a positive impact on the traditional musical culture of Americans. The characteristic structural and genre elements of the formation of Russian and American pop songs are considered. Attention is drawn to the fact that with the help of the "Russian song in exile" of the Russian emigration of the period under study, it was possible to preserve national identity in a foreign cultural environment.
