Musicology Annotation << Back On the Orthodox singing of the Kryashen Tatars of the Tyulyachinsky district, Republic of Tatarstan (on the materials of musical ethnographic expedition) Gumerova Aysylu T. The article is devoted to the analysis of church singing practice of the Kryashen Tatars inhabiting the Tyulyachinsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan. The materials for consideration are samples of Orthodox singing recorded by the author in the Kryashen settlements of the Tyulyachinsky region in 2017. Based on the study of the sources dating back to the early 20th century, the author characterizes the historical prerequisites for the formation of traditions in the region, while the analysis of the collected musical material allows one to assess its current state. The the pitch features of the chants revealed in the course of the analysis make it possible to draw a conclusion about the spiritual and singing practice of the Tyulyachin Kryashens as an original musical and stylistic phenomenon.
