Tishchenko and Shostakovich: the Crossroads of Destinies, on a Common Symphonic Path |
Serov Yuri E.
The article examines the symphonic works of B. Tishchenko in the context of the influence of the personality, composer style and language of D. Shostakovich on him. Tishchenko was a student of the Master, the apprenticeship grew into a longterm friendship. Tishchenko has repeatedly admitted to following Shostakovich's symphonic path, the study examines the individual, most significant aspects of human and musician communication between the two composers, touches upon the issues of succession and interpenetration of artistic ideas. Tishchenko’s connections with Shostakovich are not always on the surface, but the more we listen to his symphonic work, the more we feel them. Tishchenko spent his whole life in dialogue with the Master, examining his works through the prism of what was created by the teacher. It was Tishchenko, who voluntarily assumed the burden of inheriting Shostakovich’s symphonic traditions, who most fully and organically embod-ied in his work the most essential, root artistic principles of his teacher and elder friend.
