Musicology Annotation << Back Michael Gordon and the Traditions of American Experimental Music Krom Anna E. The article examines the issue of the continuity of the traditions of American experimental music in the work of the modern postminimalist composer Michael Gordon (1956). Based on the analysis of musical text, the study of documentary sources (author’s comments on essays, interviews, memoirs of the minimalist classics S. Reich, F. Glass), as well as the works of leading researchers of contemporary art in the USA (O. Manulkina, K. Gann) author reveals the characteristic features of Gordon’s style as the heir to the ageold national culture of the mavericks.
