Musicology Annotation << Back The role of Shovket Alekperova in the development of the vocal art of Azerbaijan Guliyeva Kamala R. The article studies the performing style of prominent Azerbaijani singer Shovket Alekperova. The article describes the original creative style of the singer, combining mugam, folk and compositional variety styles.The article gives the analysis of performing Azerbaijani folk songs from the repertoire of Sh.Alekperova. In the samples of ancient song-writing Sh. Alekperova found motives, consonant with the present time. Particularly notable layer in Sh.Alekperova’s repertoire consists of numerous and different songs and songs of Azerbaijani composers. She was the first and unrivaled performer of most songs of Azerbaijani composers. Sh.Alekperova worked with such composers as Tofi g Guliyev, Jahangir Jahangirov, Said Rustamov, Vasif Adigozalov, Emin Sabitoglu, Agabaji Rzayeva, Shafiga Akhundova, Elza Ibrahimova, Oktay Khazimov and others. She skillfully revealed the subtle expressiveness of the song melodies. In the song for Sh.Alekperova the musical image was the main one. Sh.Alekperova worked on the lyrics of the song very carefully, learned the style features of music and defined the performing style. She revealed all the expressive details, nuances and emphasized significant poetic and musical moments, creating an artistically complete composition.
