Musicology Annotation << Back Leonid Sabaneev: The Musical Archive in the Library of Congress. «apocalypsis ioannis apostoli» Alexander O. Maksimenko Musical art of the Russian composer, critic and musicologist Leonid Sabaneev is little-known and is almost not studied. The article reports about the discovered archive of his musical manuscripts locating in the Library of Congress and its contents is being published for the first time. There are preliminary information about the condition of the manuscript of Sabaneev’s main composition — the oratory «apocalypsis ioannis apostoly» («Revelation of St. John») for choir, soloists, organ and orchestra. There also information about the instrumentation and possible difficulties in decrypting and performing the composition.
