Musicology Annotation << Back Metamorphosis of the Concept of Opus in Gyorgy Kurtag’s Works Galina V. Anokhina The problem of individuality, integrity and closeness of a piece of music became acute in the Age of Postmodernism. Rapid development of improvisational art, introduction of aleatory music and «open form», appearance of actions, happenings, performances as new works of art — all that affected the opus music which had become traditional by the 20th century. The article is centered around the creative activity of a Hungarian composer of the 2nd half of the 20th century, Kurtag, from the point of view of compositional approach and the concept of opus.
