Musicology Annotation << Back Cadenza in the Dialogue of Performing Interpretations of R. Levin – F. Busoni Wang Rui The article examines the ways of including cadenzas in the genre of piano concerto using the example of the works of pianists Robert Levin and Ferruccio Busoni. The Italian pianist Ferruccio Busoni emphasized the importance of individual performance style in instrumental cadenzas. The modern American pianist Robert Levin develops the idea of performing interpretation of cadenzas: during his concert performances, he prefers to include his own improvisational material in cadenzas, without fi xing it with the help of musical notation.
