Musicology Annotation << Back Differences in Pronunciation and Opera Singing Between Italian and Vietnamese: Analysis and Comparison Khuat Ngoc My This article examines the phonetic differences between Italian and Vietnamese and their impact on opera singing technique. Opera singing requires a high level of accuracy in pronunciation, and understanding these differences is crucial for improving vocal skills. The Italian language, with its phonetic stability and simplicity, is ideal for performing in the bel canto style, while the Vietnamese language, with its tonal system and complex consonant and vowel structure, requires more advanced vocal techniques. The study also explores the mechanisms of sound formation in the human body and explains how the different features of these two languages infl uence opera performances. Understanding these aspects is beneficial not only for performers but also for educators training students for multilingual opera performances. In conclusion, it is noted that despite the challenges posed by Vietnamese, its unique characteristics can be used to create distinctive and expressive opera interpretations.
