Musicology Annotation << Back See the Sound – Hear the Gesture: the Role of Unconventional Methods of Sound Production in Chamber Instrumental Compositions by Yuri Kasparov Krishtalyuk Olga The article explores the semantics and dramaturgical role of the latest unconventional methods of sound production in chamber-instrumental compositions of the late XX and early XXI centuries by Y. Kasparov. The techniques are considered from the point of view of dramaturgical logic, as well as in the aspect of sound visualisation and audio visualisation of intonation and performance "gesture". As a result of the conducted research the author draws conclusions that special performing techniques can play the role of central elements of the sound system of a composition, can visualise sound in the space of instrumental theatre, as well as that the importance of the newest performing techniques of sound production in modern compositions is signifi cantly increasing and forms the area of a kind of new rhetoric in the music of the XXI century.
