Opera «Stepan Kalashnikov»
by Valery Pyankov:
a Comprehensive Analysis |
Skhaplok Galina
Russian Russian Russian Russian Folk Opera The article presents an analysis of Valery Pyankov's opera «Stepan Kalashnikov», written for
soloists, Russian folk choir, two French horns, trumpet and orchestra of Russian national instruments (2015). This opera is adjacent to the layer of
Russian national folklore – an integral component of Russian music in general and the work of composer V. Pyankov in particular.
The opera is considered from various positions: genre, compositional, fi gurative and semantic, directly musical. The composition demonstrates
the composer's high skill and mastery of a wide range of musical and expressive means, especially vividly implemented in genre and choral
scenes.
The article deals with practically unexplored material in Russian musicology, which determines the relevance and scientifi c novelty of the study.
Keywords: Valery Pyankov, opera, Stepan Kalashnikov, Lermontov, choir, aria, orchestra, composer.
