«Petals» for Cello by Kaija Saariaho: Features of the Composition |

This article is devoted to the work of the modern Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho. The object of the study is the cello piece «Petals», which demonstrates non-traditional methods of playing the instrument, specific musical and expressive means, the use of electronic effects and transformations, as well as stylistic and compositional approaches in composition related to the development of sound material using spectral methods.
The article masters the material that is little studied in Russian musicology, which determines the relevance and scientific novelty of the study. The purpose of the work is to expand the ideas of musical science about foreign music of recent decades, in particular about the cello music of Kaija Saariaho.
