Musicology Annotation << Back Issues of Using Mugham in Pianoforte Works of Azerbaijani Composers Abasova Nigar N. Piano music occupies a special place in the work of Azerbaijani composers. Research in this area shows that it has played and is playing the role of a creative laboratory in the activities of the composer and represents a certain stage in its evolution in terms of improving and enriching the musical language. It is no coincidence that the ideas that we find in the piano works of a number of composers are subsequently reflected in their large-scale works as well. Studies of piano works cover various areas: program content, dramatic structure, form, melody, rhythm, mode, etc. The study of these aspects contributes to the disclosure of the general stylistic features of the composer’s work. At the same time, the study of the use of mugham in piano music is one of the most pressing issues in musicology.
