Five-Voice Partes Concert Parts of the Late XVIIth–XVIIIth Centuries: Repertoire Analysis |
Gerasimova Irina V.
The purpose of the article is to examine the dynamics of changing the repertoire of five-voice choral concerts at the late XVIIth–XVIIIth centuries and reconstruct the whole picture of the development of this type of works in Russia. The article analyzes the repertoire of partes parts from sixteen sets, including five-voice concerts. Some of them are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, as well as the discovered attribution of individual works to Vasily Titov: the Liturgy (C-dur), the kathisms "Blessed is the Man" and the irmos for the Nativity of Christ "Christ is born, glorify". Five sets have all voice parts, two full four-voice sets have single five-voice concerts. The remaining manuscripts belong to incomplete sets with lost batches. The analysis shows that the repertoire during the end of the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries was stable and significantly replenished no earlier than the second quarter of the XVIIIth century in sets belonging to the musicians of the nobleman A.G. Zagryazhsky. A short catalog of five-voice concerts on full and incomplete sets of tparts is published in the appendix.
Keywords: party style, five-voice choral concerts, repertoire, attribution, source analysis, Vasily Titov.
