Musicology Annotation << Back Processing Popular Songs for Chorus (on the Example of Creativity Galiba Mamedov) Mamedova Naila B. The article is devoted to the arrangements for the choir of folk songs of Azerbaijani composer Galib Mammadov. The traditions of processing were laid in the first half of the last century and were continued by many composers of the country. Modern choral music has become widespread outside of Azerbaijan. The article discusses the vocal-choral cycle of arrangements for the choir based on Azerbaijani folk songs in Norwegian and Azerbaijani. The analysis of the processing made it possible to reveal here the distinctive features of the composer’s style, such as the use of song-dance folklore, professional music of oral tradition, and the use of quarto-quinte compounds characteristic of Azerbaijani folk music. The work of Galib Mammadov is distinguished by interesting stylistic features and creative finds. In particular, it should be noted his ability to synthesize the process of rapprochement of musical cultures of the world in his works. The nuances of music are clearly manifested in the compositions he created, the possibilities of a miniature in the image of individual musical images are shown. Along with timbre diversity, plots from various works of leading poets, as well as national folklore, have been successfully used here.
