«Hamlet» by K.M. Sergeyev: unknown materials from the Manuscripts Department of the National Library of Russia |
Shabalina Nataliya S.
The article concerns research into the materials of the fund No. 1477 of N.M. Dudinskaya’s and K.M. Sergeyev’s archive at the Manuscripts Department in the National Library of Russia. They deal with the ballet «Hamlet» by K.M. Sergeyev, staged in 1970 at the Leningrad State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after S.M. Kirov. They are signed as «unsorted». These documents are important sources for the analysis of the performance creation process, formation of the choreographer’s plot, selection of the main participants – librettists, a composer and a scene-designer. They are also significant for our understanding of Sergeyev’s aesthetic intentions, influenced on the production’s stylistics. His working manuscripts give the opportunity of the image recreation of the ballet having been preserved neither at the theatre repertoire nor on the video record.
