Musicology Annotation << Back Viktor Sergeyevich Kalinnikov: parallels of fate. To the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth (1870–1927) Yudina Vera I. In the Russian musical culture of the late XIX–early XX centuries, the works of the Kalinnikov brothers' composers represented diff erent genre trends. While the elder Vasily Sergeyevich (1866–1900) worked mainly in the symphonic genre, Viktor Sergeyevich (1870–1927) wrote mainly choral music. Viktor Kalinnikov's special attention to spiritual choirs was due to the fact that during the Soviet period his work was forgotten. The article attempts to analyze the facts of his creative biography, features of musical aesthetics and style in comparison with the life and work of Vasily Kalinnikov.
