Musicology Annotation << Back The rhythmic organization of the Northern Karelians wedding lamentsin the context of structural-typological research Shvetsova Vera A. The article discusses the rhythmic organization of the wedding laments of the Northern Karelians from the standpoint of the structural-typological research method. Elucidation of the structural features of poetic texts of the laments is an essential stage in the analysis of the rhythmic structure of tunes, because poetic texts largely determine the musical rhythm. The author identifies the main structural elements of the rhythmic frame of lamentations, which are typed structural units and correlated with the syllable groups of the poetic text. Also, in the article discusses how to coordinate them. Rhythm-intonation period of the Northern Karelians lamentations formed by addition of the musical-rhythmic formulas of various sizes. This method reveals some similarities with the principle’s characteristic of the class of cured forms (accord. to the systematics of B. Efimenkova). At the same time, small rhythmic units are independent with respect to the verbal component, which is not characteristic of curative forms. At this stage of the study held typological systematics of the rhythmic forms of the tune’s laments, based on the methods of the internal organization of syllable rhythm formulas.
