Musicology Annotation << Back Sergey Slonimsky and Heinrich Orlov: Pages of the History of the Russian national Symphony Valitova Marina G. The article refers to one of the pages of the history of the symphony genre in our country. In the 21th century, the domestic musical culture has repeatedly changed the direction of its development, in connection with new writing techniques, avantgarde currents, of course, in close cooperation with ideological attitudes. Musicology in its own way attempted to comprehend symphonic processes, followed by major symphonic masters, researchers observed the evolution of the genre, turned to samples following the tradition, and innovative scores opening up new paths. Beginning in the late 1950s, among others in the sphere of the national symphony in the context of avant-garde movements, the figure of the Petersburg master Sergei Slonimsky stands out. The first publications about his symphonic works are dated 1950s. The pioneers here were Leningraders A.I. Klimovitsky, E.A. Ruchevskaya, in Moscow they were supported by M.E. Tarakanov and M.D. Sabinina. One of the now forgotten studies was the history of Russian symphonism, the monograph of Heinrich Orlov "Russian Soviet Symphony". This book, generalizing its contemporary stage, turned out to be in many ways visionary. A proper place separates the author of the music of Slonimsky. Let us try to look from the 21st century at what has now become more than relevant for us.
