Musicology Annotation << Back Richard Provost and visualization technique Pavel A. Gordeyev The article contains translator’s comments to the English into Russian translation of the chapter «Visualization» from the book «The Art & Technique of Practice» by the famous American guitarist and teacher Richard Provost. The book is widely distributed in western countries and has long been a bestseller in the fi eld of English-language educational and methodical literature for musicians-performers. In the translated chapter «Visualization», which has an undoubtful independent practical value, techniques and recommendations are given concerning visualization as an important element for musicians-performers’ practice. The article proves the relevance of the reference to the translated text, the importance of the development of visualization as a necessary skill of musicians, provides biographical information about Richard Provost, as well as preliminary remarks on the English term «visualization», which is necessary for its correct understanding.
