Musicology Annotation << Back Greek Music Manuscripts Collection of The State Historical Museum: A Preliminary Review Shehovtsova I.P. This paper presents an overview of Greek music manuscripts collection of Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods from the State Historical Museum funds. As a result, 39 manuscripts were revealed, including 20 singing codexes, 10 singing books fragments, 2 music-theoretical handbooks, 7 manuscripts with ekphonetic notation. Comparison with similar collections from other funds showed that SHM collection can be considered as the second in Moscow by quantity and quality of Greek manuscripts presented in it. The paper contains an appendix with SHM manuscript pointers with code numbers, basic parameters, brief descriptions and comments.
