Musicology Annotation << Back Bell and Song (about the Historical Age of a Wedding Song) Mikhail A. Lobanov In the focus of attention of this small study — an attempt to define the time of the creation of ritual songs “The River”, accompanying the wedding of the bride-orphans. In the text of this song, there is the motive of the awakening of the deceased parent by blowing to the Church bell. By studying the approach of a bell-strike and architectural type of the Church building, where to hang the bell, the author came to the conclusion about the origin of the song “The River” not earlier than the 18th cent., when the Church with a high belfry above the porch took place as the prevailing type of the Church building in the Russia.
