Musicology Annotation << Back The Phenomenon of Buddhist Meditation in Traditional Music Culture and Eastern Avant-garde Violetta N. Yunusova In the paper the author considers the influence of philosophy, aesthetics and practice of Buddhist meditation on the classic genres of music culture of Asian (Indian music ragsangit) and in the works of Takemitsu Toru, Isan Yun, Tan Dun, who are Eastern musical avant-garde great masters. Special attention is paid to the map of meditation phenomenon and the interpretation of image and figurative aspects of their works (the problem of life and death), the interpretation of the genre, their original compositional techniques (Isan Yun’s main sound-tone technique) from the perspective of Eastern religious philosophy and practice of Buddhist meditation.
